Bureau of Labor Statistics Reveals Consumer Price Index for February 2022

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is a government agency within the Department of Labor. According to the BLS website, the agency “measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making.” The BLS also tracks and reports the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and other labor economic metrics.  (BLS About Us)

On Thursday morning, the BLS released inflation numbers for February 2021 – February 2022. Inflation for all items reached 7.9%. “The [7.9%] 12-month increase has been steadily rising and is now the largest since the period ending January 1982.” (BLS CPI Summary)
