Canada Cracks Down on Crowdfunding Platforms
The federal government of Canada has issued an emergency order directing financial institutions to use anti-money laundering tools to prevent individuals from financing political protests. Under the new order, crowdfunding platforms may not process payments for “designated persons” whose names have been provided by Canadian law enforcement for their connection with political protests.
