A recent report from Harvard Law highlights important trends in corporate governance for the United States and Canada in 2022.
According to the report, ESG will remain a primary concern for shareholders. “Expectations regarding environmental oversight, reporting, and performance will continue to rise.” Similarly, “The spotlight shines brightly on DE&I, culture, and human capital management.”
Directors could be subjected to more scrutiny from shareholders, who “will be more assertive, and wise companies will enhance their shareholder-engagement programs.” And additionally, “There will be more focus on board effectiveness, including composition, evaluation, and refreshment.” (Full Report)
